Saturday Reading and Coffee

It’s Saturday, and I’m still working to exercise my writing muscles. Haven’t given up yet! Just a brief hello because I have a date with a book and my pillow. I started The Girl in the Spiders Web last night, and if I don’t pass out in the next 20 minutes, I’ll finish it.

I sat down to meal plan this morning and got about two bullets in before getting distracted – so we’ll be finishing that up tomorrow. I did end up cooking off a batch of collard greens with pancetta. I had about a month’s worth of collard greens from the farm that I had mostly forgotten about. (Thank goodness for vegetable drawers that actually keep things crisp.) I just crisped up some pancetta cubes and an onion, and added about a pound of chopped collards and some water, and let it cook down for 45 minutes.

I spent the better part of the day reading, until we went on a brief excursion to the pet store for some necessities, and then came home to put together dinner: ground beef, cabbage, and tomatoes, simmered until the cabbage had softened, and served with dill and yogurt.

We watched a documentary about Backstreet Boys on Palladia tonight. While I’d nearly forgotten that Lou Pearlman put together Backstreet Boys, then N’Sync, and went to prison for a multi-million dollar ponzi scheme, I have NOT forgotten any of the words to the songs. It was definitely interesting, until I managed to accidentally change the channel and lose the last 20 minutes that were being saved on the DVR. Alas.

Tomorrow, I race!
